Registered Nurse

A registered nurse or RN works in a hospital, clinic or other medical facility. They provide and coordinate care for patients. A candidate for this career must attend an approved and accredited school. Generally, the RN attends school for several years. They might earn a bachelor’s degree or associate in nursing. This is a great career that has opportunity for growth with more schooling and clinical experience.

Medical Laboratory Technicians

The medical lab technician works in the hospital lab, doctor’s office or a research center. Typically, they collect samples of blood, tissue, and urine. They perform various test on the samples. The lab technician must earn a certificate or an associate degree to work at the entry level. The job growth is expected to continue expanding over the next decade.

CNA

The CNA or Certified Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of an RN in a hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility. Many are also involved with home care. Their primary duties involve taking care of the patient’s personal needs. For example, bathing, feeding, grooming and assisting the patient with other needs they may have. Some also give the patient their medication, and take blood pressures and temperatures.

Dental Hygienist

They also offer the dental patient advice on oral health and maintaining their teeth. The dental hygienist works along side the dentist in a dental office. Dental hygienist generally obtain an associate degree at a state approved dental hygiene school.

Respiratory Therapist

The individual in this health career works closely with patients that have chronic breathing problems. Most work in hospitals or nursing care facilities. The candidate generally earns an associate or bachelors degree at an accredited school.
